Our lived experience

A significant number of our employees have lived experience of disability. But what does this mean, and why is it important?

Lived experience of disability refers to the personal knowledge and understanding that comes from living with a disability or supporting a person with disability for a substantial amount of time.

This firsthand experience provides our team members with a deep, empathetic insight into the challenges and opportunities faced by people with many types of disability.

It goes beyond theoretical knowledge, offering a genuine connection and understanding that can only come from walking in similar shoes.

Dedication and diversity

As part of APM Group in Australia, we're part of a diverse and inclusive team made up of many passionate people with disability.

Our network enables us to bring greater understanding and continual improvement to our services for people of all abilities.

This is by sharing their experiences of living with disability as well as playing an active role in guiding processes and best practices through working groups and consultations with stakeholders across APM.

Together everyone is dedicated to our shared purpose of enabling better lives.

Here are some of our team members talking about their experience and how it helps them deliver services in their role at APM.
