Employability Skills Training (EST) can give you the knowledge you need to stand out from the crowd.
If you’re aged 15 years or older, receiving income support payments and are eligible for the program, you can boost your job prospects through Employability Skills Training.
Through the training you will gain:
- Insight into the tasks and expectations of different jobs
- Exposure to work-like environments
- Knowledge of local employment opportunities
- Links to employers from in-demand industries
Participants can also gain an opportunity to undertake industry awareness experiences, accredited training and work tickets you may need for your preferred job.

Find out if you’re eligible
To be eligible for Employability Skills Training, you must:
- Be aged 15 years or over
- Be receiving income support payments
- Have mutual obligation requirements
If you are registered for Workforce Australia online services you could be eligible for free Employability Skills Training.
Already registered with APM? Speak to your APM employment consultant about a referral.

The first training course is focused on developing job search and workplace skills. It thoroughly explores each part of searching for a job, such as:

- How to find local work opportunities
- Putting together your resume
- Preparing for job interviews
- Preparing a job application:

- Tips for video applications
- Improving your digital literacy
- Guide to managing your online presence
Stand out to local employers
In the second course, youβll get an insight into the job market, which industries are in demand, and how to tailor your applications to stand out to local employers.
This course covers:
- Techniques and strategies to apply for work in specific industries
- How to tailor your resume and job application to relevant industries
- How to complete an industry-specific screening test
- Understanding employer expectations and career prospects
- How to nail an industry-specific job interview
- Connecting you with local employers and industry experts
